These are my favorite sewing tools when either hand sewing around the house or to bring with me while traveling with sewing projects.
The bag itself is a free gift with purchase cosmetics zipper pouch. I chose it because it's roomy enough to throw in a pair of full size fabric scissors if I really need to.
- Clover Macaron Needle Sharpener/Pin Cushion/Magnet
- Clover Retractable Seam Ripper
- Bohin Milliner Hand Sewing Needles
- Clover Domed Threaded Needle Case - hold's pre-threaded needles! It's also in my cosplay convention/costuming event bag with needles pre-threaded with matching thread for costume fixes.
- Slip-N-Snip Folding Scissors - the sharp ends stay tucked away and TSA approved scissors. I've flown with these scissors many times!
- Clover Silk Pins with iron-proof glass heads - the box keeps the pins secure but can be opened with one hand.
- Retractable tape measure - I bought my rabbit one at Britex Fabrics in San Francisco
- Safety Pins in various sizes
- Clover Water Soluble Fabric Pen with Eraser
- Sharpie & Pencil
- Thimble - I have a basic steel dome top thimble from Lacis in Berkeley, but if you have long nails, you may prefer an open thimble like this Clover one.
- Wrist brace
- Beeswax cake - skip the craft store stuff!
- 100% European Linen Thread from Burnley and Trowbridge. I keep two weights on hand at all times and I'll throw in thread that matches projects as needed.
Bonus item: A small double sided plastic storage box/tackle box. I keep a few of everything I might need to fix a costume in this and bring it in my convention bag. It's also useful to hold small pieces that break while wearing a cosplay.
